Purchasing Clerk Part-Time



  • High School diploma or GED. Additional coursework in computer
    skills and routine office procedures preferred.
  • Purchasing and office experience preferred
  • Must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license
  • Working knowledge of office equipment


  • Answer and direct phone calls, provide information to stakeholders
  • Provide clerical support for the office
  • Assign purchase order numbers and complete the purchasing process
  • Scan and categorize various documents into an electronic filing
  • Compose regular correspondence as needed
  • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
  • Maintain filing system
  • Greet and provide general support assisting with questions about
  • Assist in ordering supplies and materials if necessary
  • Handle incoming mail promptly, responding to routine
    correspondence as required
  • Use and maintain office equipment as needed
  • Assist departments with completing the requisition form as needed
  • Prepare request for quotes as needed
  • Expedite orders by working with the Accounting department and the
    requisitioning department on orders that are delayed in shipping to
    work purchase orders off the system as needed
  • Assist the Purchasing Agent in assigning maintenance work orders as
  • Understanding of Purchasing Laws as they pertain to requisitioning
    and purchasing items
  • Other duties as assigned by the Purchasing Agent or the County
