Today, the 9th Chancery Court District hosted its first-ever Adoption Day event in Roane County, a celebration dedicated to children and families whose lives have been transformed through adoption.

“More than 130 children have been adopted so far during my judgeship, so this event today was a celebration of those children and families, while spotlighting the importance of adoptions,” said Chancellor Tom McFarland. “The 9th District was excited to provide these families a festive day to celebrate with their family, while helping our communities find safe, loving and permanent homes for the children.”

A total of 13 adoption hearings were held throughout the day, representing families from each of the district’s four counties: Loudon, Meigs, Morgan, and Roane.
The event also featured remarks from Jim Henry, former Commissioner of the Department of Children’s Services and Deputy Governor to Bill Haslam, and an invocation delivered by Pastor Randy Griffis of Liberty Baptist Church in Kingston.

Roane County is proud to be a part of this milestone moment. Happy National Adoption Day to all!
