Geographic Information System

jake anderson, gis director

The Roane County GIS Department plays a vital role in managing and maintaining spatial data that supports county operations, planning, and public services. We are responsible for creating, updating, and analyzing maps and geographic datasets that assist with property assessment, land use planning, emergency response, infrastructure management, and community development. By integrating data from multiple county and state offices along with other authoritative sources, the GIS Department strives to provide accurate and accessible geographic information to government agencies, businesses, and the public through our Geo Hub. Our work helps improve decision-making, transparency, and efficiency across Roane County, ensuring that both officials and residents have the tools needed to understand and manage the county’s growth and resources effectively.

GIS Services

The Roane County GIS Department provides a variety of tools and services designed to give users direct access to geographic information. Through our mapping resources, users can view parcel boundaries, property details, aerial imagery, and location-based data that support planning, development, and emergency response. In addition to publicly available tools, the department offers assistance with custom map creation, data requests, and addressing support as needed.

Data & Access

Users are encouraged to explore available maps and datasets through the Geo Hub, where many of our most commonly requested resources are accessible in one place. The FAQs provide guidance on how to use these tools, while the Schedule of Fees outlines costs for specialized services or data requests. While the GIS Department works to maintain accurate and up-to-date information, all data is provided for informational purposes and should be verified through the appropriate county offices when necessary.
