Qualifications

  • Relevant combination of education, training, and experience in accounting or a related field
  • Knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and techniques including the reconciliation of accounts, cash management practices, use of internal controls
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting programs including spreadsheets and MS Office applications
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain all work-related documents, invoices, ledgers, and records in an organized and accessible manner
  • High level of accountability, accuracy, and efficiency

Responsibilities

  • Serve as support for the department, with the primary responsibility of managing all aspects of accounts payable.
  • Responsible for budget projections and amendments as well as performing other budgetary analysis as needed.
  • Ensure timely financial reporting by processing accounting system transactions.
  • Review invoices for appropriate documentation prior to payment.
  • Perform invoice and general ledger data entry in a timely manner.
  • Execute credit card and bank account reconciliation.
  • Communicating with vendors regarding invoice status, payment inquiries, and disputes.
  • Processing employee expense reports and mileage reimbursements.
  • Initiating and processing payments to vendors through various methods such as checks, electronic transfers, or credit card payments.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounts payable records and files.
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures related to accounts payable.
  • Participating in audits and providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Adhering to internal controls and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assisting with special projects or other accounting tasks as assigned by management.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work.
  • Some lifting, and/or carrying of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).
  • Tasks may involve extended periods of time at keyboard or workstation.
