Today marks a significant milestone for the Roane County Animal Shelter as the ribbon was proudly cut on our brand-new Spay and Neuter Clinic. This facility represents our commitment to reducing the homeless pet population in our community through responsible pet care and population control.
This new facility offers 5 rooms total as you enter the hallway from the lobby: a kennel room for dogs, a kennel room for cats, a multi-purpose room with a washer and dryer, a surgery prep room and then the surgery room. The building was built entirely by the inmate work crew at the Roane County Jail. Sgt. Robert Sparkes, the crew supervisor, spoke at the ribbon cutting ceremony about how crucial projects like this are in preparing inmates for life after their release.
Stacey Whittenberg, the Roane County Animal Shelter Director, has shown an unwavering dedication and passion for her job over the years and has been instrumental in bringing this vision to life. Stacey’s leadership and heart of gold have guided us every step of the way, ensuring that this clinic not only meets but exceeds the needs of our community and its beloved pets. The journey to this grand opening has been a collaborative effort, and we are incredibly grateful to the numerous vendors and partners who have contributed to making this clinic a reality. Their dedicated support have been invaluable.
