Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing a variety of administrative and clerical tasks related to property valuation, including data entry, recordkeeping, document processing, assisting the public with inquiries, and supporting the overall assessment process. This role serves as key administrative support to the Property Assessor’s Office and ensures accurate maintenance of property information.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Tennessee Driver’s License
  • 1-2 years of clerical, administrative, or recordkeeping experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and software, including Microsoft Office.
  • High accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with the public and explain property tax information clearly and professionally.
  • Basic understanding of property valuation principles and real estate terminology preferred.
  • Familiarity with local property tax laws and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • High level of confidentiality when handling sensitive property and financial records.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities to address inquiries and discrepancies effectively and able to excel in time management

Responsibilities

  • Entering property details, ownership information, sales data, and assessment values into computer systems.
  • Updating existing records as needed to ensure accuracy.
  • Answering questions from property owners regarding assessments and property tax appraisals.
  • Providing guidance and directing inquiries to appropriate resources.
  • Generating reports on assessment data, property values, and tax records for internal and external use.
  • Maintaining accurate and organized property assessment files in both physical and electronic formats.
  • Driving county vehicle to review properties in rural and city areas of the county and physically measure structures and then input data in CAMA system

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods while performing data entry and administrative tasks.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying of objects up to 25 lbs.
  • Working out in the county/cities to review properties in all weather conditions while driving county vehicle and also walking property ensure record accuracy
