Roane County is dedicated to ensuring the safety and preparedness of its residents during emergencies. One of the most effective tools in this effort is the Hyper-Reach Emergency Notification System, managed by the Roane County Office of Emergency Services. This system provides real-time alerts about severe weather, road closures, public safety threats, and other urgent situations.

Over the past two months, more than 900 Roane County residents have signed up for Hyper-Reach, strengthening the county’s ability to quickly communicate crucial information and keep the community safe.

Why Hyper-Reach is Critical for Public Safety

Emergencies can strike at any time, and having access to fast, accurate information can help residents make informed decisions to protect themselves and their families. Whether it’s a tornado warning, flash flood advisory, hazardous road condition, or public safety emergency, Hyper-Reach ensures that people receive timely notifications tailored to their location and needs.

Customized Alerts for Maximum Effectiveness

One of the key advantages of Hyper-Reach is its ability to deliver targeted alerts based on the location of an emergency. Notifications can be sent:

  • Countywide – When a widespread emergency affects all residents, such as a major weather event or critical public safety issue.
  • By Specific Area – When only certain neighborhoods, roads, or communities are impacted, ensuring that only those who need to take action receive the alert.

This level of customization prevents unnecessary notifications while ensuring that those in harm’s way get the critical information they need, when they need it.
