One of the greatest needs of Roane County is food insecurity. Roane County has received $248,661 through a Housing and Urban Development Grant that was administered through the East Tennessee Development District.  Because of this grant, four food pantries will receive much-needed equipment to keep or deliver food to people in need. The following non-profits will be partnering with Roane County Government in this grant process: Hands of Mercy, Roane State Community College Food Pantry, From the Heart Food Pantry at New Midway Baptist Church, and Feeding Roane at First Christian Church in Harriman.
