On September 20, 2023, County Executive, Wade Creswell, signed a Proclamation proclaiming September as “Suicide Prevention Awareness Month” in Roane County. Mr. Creswell was joined by Sarah Harrison, Executive Director of the Roane County Anti-Drug Coalition.

September is Suicide Awareness Month nationally, and our county government, in conjunction with Roane County Anti-Drug Coalition, is committed to promoting mental health awareness and supporting those who may be struggling.

According to the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network, more than three people in the state of Tennessee die by suicide every day. Please join us in raising awareness and reaching out to others to show hope and support. If you or someone you know is struggling with depression and may be at risk for suicide, please reach out for assistance. You can call or text the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988 which provides 24/7 free and confidential support.  For students, the Jason Foundation is also a great local resource.
